4Front Technologies is a software development company with a focus on
developing digital audio solutions for UNIX. Its founding partners,
Dev Mazumdar with an M.S. degree in Computer Science from University
of Southern California and Hannu Savolainen with an M.S. degree in
Computer Science from University of Helsinki, have extensive backgrounds
in UNIX kernel drivers and audio hardware. 4Front's mission is to
make Open Sound System a "de-facto" audio API for UNIX.
4Front Technologies is located in Culver City, the home of Sony Pictures Studios.
4Front is a privately held company founded in 1992 with development
centres in Finland and USA.
George Yohng is responsible for the OSS/3D development. George
has been instrumental in developing the DSP engine for OSS and OSS/3D.
Olle Hallnas, Peter Alm, Sven Nowicky and Thomas Nilsson are other
staff at 4Front responsible for application development to support the
Open Sound System API. Currently our XMMS multimedia player for UNIX
is the most popular app for Linux, FreeBSD and other versions of UNIX.
